I have three weeks to complete a collection of art work. I have started working on it and here is the first piece of a series of koi fish I will be working on.

Summer Projects Continued

Earlier this week, I did something I never thought I would do. I took a vertical barre class. Needless to say, my body was sore for a few days. Even though this class kicked my ass, I feel compelled to go back. To describe what it felt like to be suspended mid air on a metal pole can only be described as thrilling. I had never before felt so sexy, strong and empowered. Everything in me was screaming: I AM WOMAN! HERE ME RAWR!!! 

Of course, the moment I got home I had to paint. The result is the image above. Any and all criticism, as long as it is done in a mature fashion are welcomed.

It's been a while folks!

This past year has been really hectic. Sadly I have neglected this blog for way too long, and it's time to get it the much needed attention it deserves. This summer I am working on several different projects in the hopes to not only gain recognition in Lafayette, but to also make a difference in the community. My goal is to raise money for this fantastic organization called Hands & Voices. It helps parents who have children with profound hearing loss. In order to do this, I'm working on creating a 40 piece collection to exhibit and auction off. All the profits would go to Hands & Voices. So, keep your fingers crossed that I can pull this off! I've never organized a fundraiser before and I'm a bit nervous!

Megan and Her Plane

Megan Merrimen is a designer currently residing in Lafayette. This picture shows her holding her recently painted airplane. And if you can't tell the work is almost as beautiful as herself!

Un Hibou Français

I'm teaching French to pre schoolers this year. The theme is owls, so I thought why don't I do a painting of an owl for the classroom! And voila, this emerged:

Alright, so I was commissioned by a friend to do a painting of her daughters' childhood home. So here's the finished product!

Finally another update with the Mickey Shunick Painting!

I forgot to preface that the painting behind me is the portrait of Mickey. Anyways, I've decided to call it a done work and will be giving it to the Shunick Family in the near future.

So I've added the leaning tower of pisa crumbling to bits and a volcano in the background! Now it's time to do some tweaking on the piece!

Starting a Project for Richard

Okay, so I have a friend who has asked me to do a series of him bowling. I started working on it today, and realized something. I am really rusty with non-acrylic material. I don't think I've struggled so much with a piece since I was in high school. Anyways, here's what I managed to create. It is not the final product, but rather some rough sketches to get me to where I need to be.

If you couldn't tell, the last piece is done in acrylic and is way better than the two above it. Anyways, it's time for a break. 

More Updates on the Portrait of Mickey

So I've decided to take a break from the painting. I can't seem to get it how I want it and if I keep working on it, the piece will not be as successful as I'd like it to be. So for now, I've placed this project on hold. It's time to do something new, so that when I return, I will have a renewed sense of how to go about the portrait.
